APMOPS Round 2 Competition - DAY 2 - Part 2(The Sight-Seeing)

After a few minutes, we arrived at the army museum of Singapore, wait, what?! Aren’t we supposed to go to the Science museum?!

Never mind, we still went inside the museum. We learned a lot of things in the museum. Apparently, times during the wars aren’t too nice. But some people also like being in the army as they get to have neat rooms. Also, all boys has to go to the army at 18, but the girls get to chose. Man! That kinda sucks. Also, we learn that all soldiers use snipers, not pistols or machine guns.

After that, we get to have some tea. Then, I asked the teacher why we’re not going to the Science Center. Apparently, we not going there. Too bad.

Well, we’re going to the FLAT WORLD AND MASHPUPS exhibition, thingy. It’s put for the international friendship day of 2017. It shows us about the things that Singapore went through to be uh… Singapore. Like, ya know, from 1965 Singapore to 22^nd century Singapore. And, it wasn’t easy. At the start( a little bit before 1960), it Singapore had a LOT of problems, like communists and war. Then finally, at 1965, when Singapore left Malaysia, Singapore is both literally and figuratively left by itself. So, all Singapore can do is to try is to ‘rebuild’ itself, well, by having it’s own hospital and school services. Annnd.. finally, Singapore become the Singapore as we now know. Then, we knew about some words of Singlish (Singapore + English), like ‘Saman’ (which is ‘summons’ in Malay) and ‘Nah’ (here you go in Malay).

Also, we learned that Singapore has 4 sources of water:

1. Rain water (Made by collecting rain water [well duh..])

2. Sea water (Made by filtering sea water [duh again])

3. Toilet water (Made by filtering drain/toilet water [Eww…])

4. Bought water (Bought from Johor [But it will stop during 2060])

Anyway, after that we also learn that another name for Singapore is ‘the red dot’, because if you look for Singapore on the world map, all you can find is a tiny reddish dot.

Later, we get to know what brand the country is famous for. Well, here’s some brands for you to know. USA is famous for Google, South Korea for SAMSUNG, Japan is Toyota, Germany has BMW, Denmark has LEGO (Hooray for Denmark [I like LEGOs]), Sweden has IKEA while Nestle is from Switzerland. Then, I found some ridiculous information, like Malaysia is famous for Petronas and China is ICBC, well duh, cause these brand can only be found in these countries!!

Anyway, they also have virtual reality glasses(that’s what they’re called, right? The humongous things you can put on your head?), the we put it on, and it actually works! You get to see things that each thing is supposed to let you see, and it even gives you sounds! Just that you can’t go around and you can’t exactly see your ermm… feet… or legs either. Which doesn’t really appease Xing Yi as it makes him feel like he is flying and he is actually afraid of heights (lol).

After some awesome virtual sight seeing, we left the exhibition and took a nice ride back to the hostel.

At the hostel, it’s still raining, not exactly, it’s actually drizzling, to be specific. As we are walking back to our block, we found a frog! It’s actually a very tiny black frog. It is like barely 1cm! (definitely took a nice little picture of it).

After that, I went back to my room and took some rest, which is what I exactly needed. Then, at 6.00pm, I went to the cafeteria to have my dinner.

During my dinner, there was a talk about our mathematics test during the next day. But it is given out by some boys.

After that, I went back to my room. Then, I decided to do a bit of revision on my math, which I find a bit hard to do so, as I already had finished reading the whole thing.

APMOPS Round 2 Competition - DAY 2 - Part 1(The Test)

DAY 2

During 5:20, I woke up. And I can’t really get back to sleep, but we had to be at the canteen at 6, so yah.

Anyway, Ang Xing Yi went bathing first, while I just slack around in the room, and do a little bit of revision.

Meanwhile, I went to the toilet… and took a dump. And the toilet’s bowl is a little rough. But luckily it went OK. After that I took my bath and went down to the canteen. I ate a peanut-butter-butter-sandwich, some milk and cereal. Oh, I also drank some chicken essence that I have.

After the breakfast, we went to the ‘exam hall’(which is actually a classroom),which is a lot further than I thought. Including the time they took to roll call, it’s definitely took more than 20 minutes.

On the way, we did our small revisions, we found a word, ‘corpulent’ which means fat, or fleshy. And so is Ming Wen, so we called him Mr. Corpulent.

At the exam hall, we took our GAT (General Ability Test), which is all those puzzles where they had taken a part of a picture and you have to guess the part that had been taken. There’s 48 questions, yet you only get 20 minutes. Holy moly cow and broccoli that means you only have 25 seconds for each question!

Guess what, I didn’t get to answer all the questions. I wasn’t able to answer the last question. So all I did was I threw in a 5 (It doesn't work like A B C D, it works like 1 2 3 4 5).

After the test, we had the English test. It’s very much like the tests we have in our schools, where they give you a paragraph then they ask you some questions about the paragraph. But other than that there’s also questions where you need to find words from the story which match the meanings.

After that, there’s also an English writing test. I wrote a story about me helping my friend to find his dog.

At about 12, we went to the canteen to eat lunch. We get to chose to eat either Muslim food or nasi lemak (fried rice). I decided to eat Muslim food, as the fried rice is spicy, and another fact about me, I seriously cannot take spicy food, I just cannot take it.

After the lunch, we went back to the hostel. The teacher told us to be down at about 1 to go to the Science Center of Singapore. In the meantime, we changed our clothes.

When we went down for the trip, it started raining heavily, okay, let me rephrase that, it’s raining cats and dogs, no, it’s raining tigers and wolfs. Anyway, we had to gather at the auditorium. After some grouping, we went to our buses.

APMOPS Round 2 Competition - DAY 1(The Arrival)

Before everything I have to say here, I have to say that I am very thankful for I have gotten number 8^th in the APMOPS Round 2.

DAY 1

Okay, I’ll start with the trip to Singapore. I had to leave the school early as I have to catch the flight, as you know hard they are to know to catch nowadays. (See what I did there?) Anyway, that’s what all the participants did. Except for Ang Xing Yi. (God knows why)

I left the school, ate some McDs and changed. Finally, I left for the airport and soon arrived. Soon, all the participants are too. Since I have the most experience and I’m really excited I rushed to the gates. So did everyone else. Except for Miss Kuah,our teacher, whom told us to stop. We (obviously) did not listen. Don’t judge us, we are just kids, okay?

On the way to the gate, we raced against each other. Xing Yi went on to the travelator while while I didn’t. Guess what - I reached the end before he did. He sure is one slowpoke.

After a few races, we reached the customs. Well, let’s just say Xing Yi and Yi Rong’s ‘scissors had met their end. Know what, they’re just  confiscated. Soon, we arrived at the gate and soon boarded our plane.

On the plane, I told Matthew Poh and Ming Wen how a plane works. It’s about the wings and the air pressure and - never mind. We arrived at Singapore in 1 hour.

At Changi Airport, my dad was there to pick us up. We called 2 taxis and we went to Hwa Chong Institute. On the way, we had riddles, like this one:

Question: In the middle of a plain, a man was found dead. An unopened bag was beside him. There were no signs of murder/weapon/toxin, yet he knew he was going to die.  How did he die?

Answer: The man is a parachuter, the bag is the parachute which he failed to open in time.

After a nice ride, we arrived at the institute. We had to climb stairs, but we soon got to the hostel.

Pretty soon, we got our key cards and our rooms. I had to share a room with Xing Yi.

Well, I’d say the hostel is really good. You get your own bed, air conditioner, there’s wifi and even a small kitchen for everyone to use. The only thing is the bathroom is a public one. Just so you know, I’m a huge fan of privacy.

After a quick unpacking, I went on to the bed and played some games.

6’o clock! I go down to the canteen to eat dinner. It’s not too bad.

After I’ve finished my dinner, I went around the institute and took pictures of the place. And boy is there a lot of things is take pictures of! There’s the gym park, the buildings, the trees etc.

After a nice ‘trip’ around the institute, I went back to the room. Apparently Xing Yi was there first. During about 8 o’ clock, it’s about time to take a bath. I let Xing Yi go first, and he is seriously slow, like, slower than slow. Good thing is, he came out, eventually. Then it’s my turn. When I got back, apparently Xing Yi went to meet him mom.

Soon, he’s back. Then, I decided that I should revise some of my notes.

During 10.20, Me and Xing Yi went to sleep. We told each other weird dreams we had. Wanna know mine? I had one where there is a whole airport in a apartment which only has one floor. Then I had another one where there was an alternate universe where everything is 1960 and yellowish, and I have like 20 siblings.

My 2nd Story : The Heroes Five

THE HEROES FIVE

Chapter 1: The Solar Wave!
“Hey Tom, congratulations, you are now an astronomer!” said Jennie, Tom’s girlfriend, “Ah, thank you.” said Tom “I’m going for an explore in space this Saturday.” “Well, good luck to you, then.” said Jennie.
Saturday, Tom put on his suit, and he thought to himself: “I’m going to be famous!” And he seated with the other astronauts, pressed the buttons, and flew off to space.
In space, Tom saw a red line in space, “It must be a kind of light.” he said. But it’s no light, it is fire, it’s a solar wave!
But Tom is curious. He looked at the solar wave, and he kept on looking at the solar wave for ‘tons of hours’. “Stop looking at it, Tom.” said an astronaut next to him, but Tom did not care, till the solar wave flashed at him and he fainted.

Chapter 2: Fire On The Snow!
“Huh…… Where am I?” asked Tom “Je…Jennie?” “Yes.” said Jennie “Other astronauts beside you heard and saw you faint, so they took you here, now you are okay.” “Oh thank god!” said Tom.
The next week, Tom is going for a skate in the cold places with Jane, his sister. “Yahoo! This is fun!” cried Tom “But why do I smell smoke?” “Tom, you are on fire!” cried Jane, “Yeah, you are cool,” said Tom “wait, I am on fire?” And “Boom!” Tom crashed into the snow, “Are you okay?” asked Jane, “Yeah…” said Tom.
“A solar wave flashed at you, right?” asked Anne(Tom’s younger sister), “Yesterday I looked through the telescope at night and I saw the solar wave, then I fainted because of the flash.” said Anne “But it changed my DNA, just look.” and she became invisible. “So I can turn into a fire because my DNA is changed?” asked Tom “Yes.” said Anne, “Yay!” cried Tom “I don’t need to bring coal while camping!” “Lazy guy” murmured Anne. Suddenly, Tom asked: “What is DNA again? Anne?” “DNA is something that makes our body.” answered Anne “DNA is in all living things, like in plants’ leaves, in animals’ hair, or even in the human body.” “Oh!” said Tom “But why does a solar wave’s flash change the human body’s DNA?” “I don’t know.” said Anne “Maybe it had something to do with DNA.” “Weird.” said Tom.

Chapter 3: The Girl On Ice
“Holey, what happened to you, sis?” cried Tom, during the next Saturday morning when he saw Jane blue and sparkling, “Why are you shouting at the top of the morning like a madman, Tom? Let me sleep!” cried Anne, awoken by Tom, “Anne, look! Jane’s is on ice!” “What?! Let me see!” said Anne, half asleep, and she saw Jane icy. Anne thought for a while, she said: “I had learned to be a specialist last two days, so come to my hospital.
After a ‘check up’ (which naturally is a DNA check up), Anne said: “I saw that your DNA is changed by cold and snow, and it’s already there for 3 weeks, the day you are skating with Tom, what happened?” “Well,” said Jane “that day we skated too far and we had to walk back, while walking I fell down and my left shoulder was injured, I don’t know that snow got in and Tom is walking at the right side and didn’t see it.” “Well, then, it seem that little ice and gas of cold mixed with your entire DNA, which is what that is causing you to have the power. Now, Tom, let’s go home.” “Okay!”

Chapter 4: Ben The Miner
Ben is Tom’s cousin and he is a miner. While the day before Jane’s power is found, there was a landslide in Ben’s mining cave, but luckily he was found very soon, and Tom and Jane went to Anne’s hospital to see him.(Ben is in Anne’s hospital)
“Wake up, wake up… Wake up!” “Huh? Tom?” said Ben, awake “You…” “Wake up!” “Why in the hell are you yelling, Tom?!” shouted Ben, and he pushed his cousin off. “Ouch...” cried Tom, just then Anne came and said: “Ben, I got something to tell you but let’s go home first.”
“Ben,” said Anne, when they got home, “I saw that molecules got mixed with your DNA so maybe you have some powers.” “I’ll try.” said Ben, and a “Crack!” he turned into a rocky man, then a “Fut!” he turned into soil in a man’s shape, then a sound of “Clang!” he turned into a metal statue, finally, he turned back. “Cool!” said Tom, suddenly, Jennie rushed in, panting, as she had ran for a hundred miles, nonstop, “What’s the matter?” asked Jane.

Chapter 5: Rubber Girl
“Look” said Jennie, and she stretched high to a hundred meters (the room is a hundred meters), then her hands grew long just like her body, like a piece of dough. After a while, Anne said: “Come with me.”
“Okay,” said Anne, when she took Jennie to the hospital, “time for DNA check up!” After the DNA check up, Anne said: “Your DNA is changed so you can have the power, and it was changed by a solar wave.” “Well,” said Jennie “I saw a solar wave that flashed at me last month when I walked past the base for shooting the rockets that also shoots Tom’s rocket, but I saw the power yesterday.” “Wait!” interrupted Tom “We can be a team that saves people with our powers, but what about our uniform?” “I had elastic in my house that can’t even be burned by my cousin,” said Ben “We can use that to make a shirt.” “The name of the team is The Hero Five!” said Anne “Nice!” said Jennie and Jane, “Then it’s time to be a team!” said Tom.
A few days later, when all the uniforms are made, Tom shouted: “Look, everyone! I can fly!” “Well,” said Anne “show us!” And Tom flew to the sky, with the help of fire like a rocket, “But do you know I can do something incredible called chi?” said Anne, and whoosh, she blew Tom to a wrong side of flying, and into a tree, “Ha ha!” laughed Jennie.

Chapter 6: Look At The News !
The team lived better with the new powers: fire, rubber, rock, ice and invisible power. Till one day when Jane was reading the newspaper.
One fine day when Jane was reading the newspaper, she saw: ‘UFO! Three strange men! With unusual powers! A hundred same men that had even more unusual powers! Not even the best army can defeat them! Hundreds of humans are killed! Is this the end of the world? Who will save us?’
Just then Tom squeezed in and saw the powers are wood, water and hot gas, “You are squeezing!” cried Jane, but Tom said: “Look! They also said that they saw ghosts, water with a talking face and …… Wait, giant live woodman?” “It must because of the powers!” said Anne, then Jennie came in and asked: Do we have to fight them?” “Yes, or maybe.” answered Anne.

Chapter 7: Papers ?!
“Hey, let’s all go shopping!” said Jennie, “Sure, I know you want to bake a cake.” said Tom.
“Milk, tick! Eggs, tick!” said Jennie, ticking on her shopping list. ‘I still need flour, let’s go!” “Hey, it looks as if it’s full of flour here, you know.” said Tom, as they approached the flour center, “And it’s so thick that it’s solid!” “Whack!” “Huh?” asked Anne, “Hey!” said Tom, “This thick flour is sure smacking.”
“Slap! Smack! Whack!” “Just push it.” said Jane, and she smacked the puff of flour away.
“Hey, look!” said Jennie after shopping, “It’s wet here!” “I wonder why it looks like a human shape?!” asked Tom. “Never mind, just splash on it.” said Ben, “Look! Look at the tree!” suddenly shouted Anne “Oh! It looks like a someone’s craving on this tree! And the ‘face’ is good for spanking!” joked Jane, “Well, let’s go for dinner!” said Jennie “Nice! My tummy’s a thunder!” said Tom.
“Milk it, egg it, pat it, bake it. Take it, cut it, taste it, eat it!” sang Tom, in Jennie’s house, as Jennie came out from the kitchen, taking a cake, “But before we eat the cake,” she said “I saw a paper on the plastic bag, it writes: ‘The E’” “There’s one on my boots!” cried Ben “It’s ‘vil B “And there’s one written ‘ros 3’ in my cloak!” said Jane
Later, Tom thought a while, suddenly he shouted: “I know! If you put ‘The E’ with ‘vil B’ and ‘ros 3’ together, you get ‘The Evil Bros 3!’” “Okay,” said Ben “It sounds like there’s another bad guys!” “No!” interrupted Tom “They are the same!”

Chapter 8: Jennie !
“How do you know?” asked Anne “You see,” replied Tom “You remember the 3 men? They can be as white as flour, wet as water and as wood brown as a tree!” “But,” asked Jane. “How did they put the papers on us?” “We ‘touched’ them, right?” said Tom “Uh-oh! Looks like they know us!” cried Jane “Calm down!” interrupted Ben “We are five and they are three, no worries!” but he was wrong.
On Saturday, Tom just came back from a landing on the moon for three days, and he saw a paper apple, two tic-tacks, an alligator toy, a mini camera and a Swiss army knife, one by one taped on a card in the mailbox. Just as he thought of it, Anne came out rushing to say hello him, but Tom asked: “Did you notice this card?” But she replied: “No.” “It’s weird, if you say the first letter of these things, it’s ‘a-t-t-a-c-k.’” said Tom “Something is even more weird,” said Anne “Jennie is lost.” “What?!”
“Where is she?” wondered Tom, looking everywhere for Jennie, “Hmm……” thought Tom “Has she been caught? Impossible! She had superpowers!” Suddenly, Tom stopped, he saw a thing, a flying cylinder, a cylinder with a sentence labeled on it, it’s the Evil Bros 3’s spaceship! “Uh-oh!” said Tom to himself “I can’t just attack, for that they are so strong, I think I should call the others.”
And he charged in his highest speed.
After some fiery boosts, Tom finally got to his house, panicking. He shouted: “Anne! Jane! Ben!” “Tom! Where’s Jennie?” asked Anne “She is caught!” cried Tom “We must rescue her!” cried Ben “No,” interrupted Tom “They, the Evil Bros 3 are too strong.” “Then we can use teamwork!” suggested Jane, and Tom agreed.

Chapter 9: Help !
“What’s this?” asked Jane, when they saw an ant with a size of a cat with hard grey skin and big legs and a pair of trunk like an elephant blocking their way, “A hybrid of an elephant and an ant……Ow!” answered Anne, just as the antiphant (the weird animal) attacked her, but Ben hit the antiphant.
Soon, they saw a lot of hybrids, there is a vampire with four legs called ziratuo, there is a cheeky gorilla called foxila, there is also an animal that is almost as small as a mouse, almost as fierce as a dog cat, but they did pretty on the hybrids. “Now, let’s go to the UFO!” said Ben. But even more things are blocking them and they look like…… stickmen, but they had powers, some had fire, ten or twenty are robots, a group of them are a type of man that explode, about ten are indestructible, most of them can make things fly, and the rest can make copies of themselves that explode, too. A multiple DNA mix.” says Anne, and it’s time for battle Round 2!
The heroes fought bravely, Anne used her ‘invisible body’ and ‘air gust’, Tom used ‘fire fly’ and ‘fire dragon’ which melted stickmen, but ‘helped’ the fire a little, Ben uses ‘soil tripper’, ‘rock counter’ and ‘iron fist’ multiple times, while Jane only use ‘ice counter’ and ‘freezer’. After an hour, Anne ‘blew’ the fire stickmen onto the bomb men and they exploded, and that hurts the ‘flyers’. Tom melted the robots and the rest of the ‘flyers’, Ben cracked the indestructible stickmen with ‘iron fist’, and Jane freezes the rest. “Whew!” said Anne “Let’s go to the UFO!” But inside the UFO, there is another DNA course battle, and the Evil Bros 3, are watching, angrily!
They entered the UFO, and they saw robots with animal DNA, so they act like animals, and soon the heroes cracked, freezes, and melted them all, but there’s still the final battle, and it’s not a four versus three.
 
Chapter 10: The Evil Bros 3!
In the private room of the UFO, the Evil Bros 3 are watching from a CCTV hidden in the UFO, they are very angry, a man in a power of wood said to the water power man: “This is not good, Sam” but Sam replied: “No, I had an idea, they won’t win.”
As Anne, Jane, Tom and Ben are searching for Jennie in the UFO, they saw plenty of doors, but it’s always a dead end or a trap while only one door is a safe and no dead end way, but soon they got to the second floor, and the game of ‘dead end, traps, or way’ begin again. So Anne said that they had to split up, and Tom had choose the right way because it’s a wooden spike trap that Tom can burn on, Jane had no problem too because there’s nothing, Ben, of course, had no problem because he had an iron body. But Anne met a big robot and got captured.
Jane, Ben and Tom arrived at the elevator, but then they saw that Anne was captured! “Quick! We have to go up! It’s a good thing we are not captured.” said Jane, “But the elevator needs a key!” said Ben “I got my super key, you know.” said Tom, and he used the
elevator to go to the highest floor, but they can’t go in, so they go to the fifth floor. (The floor below the highest floor).
Soon the heroes walked to the end of the floor, and no doors are around. So Jane said: “All hope is lost!” But Tom said: “Wait, there’s a sound!” they heard sounds like: “The end say……Any……tooth……but……” But Tom can’t take it anymore, he wanted to dash into the room, but Ben holds his fire tail and said: “It’s not the time, Tom” so they waited till they could hear no voices, they dashed into the room, opened a door, and they saw three figures, it’s the Evil Bros 3!

Chapter 11: The Fight!
“So, you came by yourself,” said one of the Evil Bro “you escaped our traps, but you can’t escape this! HP, go!” the HP is a group of a hundred men, which is naturally only clones of one man, and also had a power each, and some were even indestructible! But Tom was so furious that he simply fought, and also, Jane and Ben fought bravely too. But soon they are beaten by the HP and Evil Bros 3.
But the heroes never give up. Tom stood up and said: “We can’t give up!” then suddenly one of the HP, got ‘pushed’ onto the wall, just as an invisible hand pushed him, then, they saw Anne and Jennie in a strong glass cage behind the wall! “Huh? What happened?” asked Tom “Maybe it’s his weakness, sound wave.” said Jane, so ice beats fire, iron beats brick and fire beats grass, and fifty of the HP are beaten, but there is still fifty three to go.
Soon, they are tired, but suddenly Tom got an idea “Let’s play tag!” said Tom, and Jane and Ben got the idea and started, they made the HP crash so much that the HP are beaten, but still, there’s the Evil Bros 3.
“Oh, you are stronger than I thought.” said the water powered man “But you can’t escape this!” And he pressed two buttons, one was a power off and one was the UFO self explode, which means the heroes had to get out of the UFO in ten minutes, but because of the power off, Jennie and Anne are free from the glass cage, but the Evil Bros 3 already escaped.

Chapter 12: Final Fight!
“Jennie! Tom! Ben! Jane! We have to stick together and make a hole that touches the ground before the UFO explodes! Hurry!” shouted Anne. And with teamwork, they made a hole they could jump in, and they are on the ground just in time, after the UFO exploded. But they saw the Evil Bros 3 in front of them, laughing, and an evil laugh too!
“So, said the wood powered man “You can use teamwork, and we also can! Wood shield!” “Water!” cried the water powered man “Heat!” cried the air powered man. And very soon a tree root appeared, then another, and another, and another!
Immediately, a tree shielded the Evil Bros 3 with a room inside, and it is very strong tree. “Everyone! Do you still remember teamwork?” “Yes.” said Tom “Fire dragon!” “Ice hose!” shouted Jane “Air!” added Anne, and they made a huge tornado that broke the shield, the Evil Bros 3 tried to make another shield but Tom flew into the tornado and he made the tornado bigger that the Evil Bros 3 can’t make another shield, so they had to run. But Jennie and Ben soon caught them and pushed them into the tornado, and the Evil Bros 3 are burned.
“Wake up, Tom enough napping and it’s your birthday!” and so it is, balloons and banners are everywhere, which are all hanged by Jennie, who still had her rubber power, and also it’s already three months since the battle ended, but they still had their power. “Hey Tom, you remember the three bad brothers messing with us!” asked Jane “Yes,” said Tom “But we are now safe!” And he is right.

剩下三个星期，又是一个新学年了，你就是三年级了。开学后，你的课业可能会比较繁重一些。不过我相信你是能够面对的，因为你说过，长大后要当科学家，所以，你必须努力哦！

你现在一天要完成九样事情，不知道你觉得苦吗？

其实让你做这些事情，是完全觉得你能够胜任，而且也做得很好。还有就是不想你把时间都放在玩Ipad 或者电脑。

Chapter 1: Stolen papers
“Jack! The secret and very important papers are gone!” said Peter, as he opened the secret book that keeps the secret experiments, “What?” said Jack, “The boss will be very angry and mad!” , just then, Jane, Jake and Anne came to the room, “What’s going on here? Is there a robbery going on or something?” they asked. “Yes, said Peter, the secret papers are gone.” “I think we could find stolen things ourselves.” said Anne, so grown-ups will be very astonished!” “Yes, we will!” said the others, “That was a great idea, Anne!” 

 

Chapter 2: Plans for (Secret Science Kids) S.S.K.

“Anne, you are the smartest, you could make plans for us, then.” said Jane, “I think we should call ourselves the ‘Secret Science kids’.” “Good idea!” said Anne, “Let’s just not talk about it, and make plans secretly, incase if someone knows our secret!” “Good idea, Anne!” said Jake, “But it’s too late, let’s make plans in bed. Oops, someone’s coming, let’s go!”

It was their mom, calling them to bed. The children leapt into their bed and begin to think. “We don’t know where the thieves live.” said Anne, “I think we better fins clues ourselves.” “Not a bad idea, Anne.” said Jack, “But what are we going to do?” “I heard that there’s a haunted house, it is at the north of the famous doctor John’s house.” answered Anne, “Maybe we could check that house, the house is just a few meters away from the doctor’s house, it can’t be very far.” “Okay.” said Jane “Let’s go there tomorrow, then.” What would show up when they go to the haunted house? Strange creatures? Bad thieves? Well, something will surely show up in the haunted house!

 

Chapter 3: The haunted house

The next day, the children are just ready to go to the haunted house, “We better wear rubber shoes and take touches with us, for our safety.” said Jake. “Of course, Jake.” said Anne, “If we get caught by anyone we will never get out, because we don’t have any dogs to chase them.” “Now we had decided, what are we waiting for?” said Jane “Let’s go!”

When they are not far from home, Anne gazed at a shop, on top of it was printed ‘Horse brasses’ “Yay!” said Anne “It sells horse brasses! Let’s go in and check for a while.” “Okay.” Groaned Jane “But do not don’t come out till the moon is up.” “Alright.” laughed Anne “But just don’t make me laugh.” As just Anne was checking the horse brasses, Jack asked an old man about the haunted house, “Sir,” said Jack “Do you know about the haunted house that was at the north of the famous doctor John’s house? And don’t tell anyone that I asked you, ok?” “Okay.” Said the old man, “And I do know about the house. But don’t be scared when you heard it. Actually I knew a little only, it’s about every time I pass it, I hear a strange sound that sounded like a beast or something, it sounded like this: ‘Grrr…! Woof! Ffffff…!’ so after a few weeks, I don’t go there anymore!” “Oh, thank you, sir.” said Jack, then he go off to join the others, “The strange sound was horrible.” said Jake, timidly. “We better be careful.” “Yes,” said Peter “If you don’t want to get in danger, open your eyes as big as a volleyball!” “Ha ha!” laughed Anne “Don’t make me laugh again, now we had finished the dumb work, we better do the serious work too! Now, let’s go!” And what will happen when they reached the haunted house with strange things? Well, you will never know!

Chapter 4: The strange sound
When the Secret Science kids are at the house, the sound was to be heard, “Could I not go in?” said Jake, timidly. “OF COURE YOU NEED TO GO IN! JAKE!” shouted Jake angrily. “Ok, fine I will go.” said Jake.

But as they leapt into the house, Jake gets a shock when he saw something on the floor, the ‘strange sound’ was nothing but a dog wailing in pain, and it’s isn’t fierce! “What! It’s just friendly dog wailing in pain! I thought it’s a beast!” cried Jake. “So you must be brave time!” said Anne “I think we better take this dog with us.” “Ok, now let’s go in as deep as we could, but we must not give up until we find the papers.” said Jane. Then, Peter opened a door to go to another room, but to his surprise, he saw three doors! One was to the east, one was to the west and one was to the north. “Look!” cried Peter “There are three doors! What are we going to do?” “Look Peter! Our dog had smelt something at the door to the north! And heard something to!” cried Anne. Indeed the dog had felt something there, then, it come back and gave a wuff as to say: “Let’s go into that room, it’s safe!” So the children and the dog marched into the room, but, there are more doors for them to choose! And which one is the right one? Well, only their dog will know!

Chapter 5: The dog finds a hole
“How many more ‘door mazes’ are they?” sighed Anne, after passing a few more mazes, but when they got into another room, it was a real maze! “Geez” said Anne “I think we must had missed a shortcut, if not, does the thieves or anybody goes to the end everyday always cross these mazes?” “Maybe not.” said Jane, “We must have missed a shortcut, I think.” “Hey!” cried Peter “Our dog had found something!  And it’s right at the wall!” What it had found was a hole in the wall. “Should we go in?” asked Jake. “Yes.” said Jack “It’s not too small.” “Ok, then.” said Jake, feeling as he is shaking like a mouse that had seen a cat. Be brave!  Jake! Don’t be so scared!

Chapter 6: The hole
“Hmm……” said Anne, looking at the hole, “Peter, you are the tallest, you go and look what in inside the hole.” “Ok.” said Peter, as he looked in the hole, he jumped away! “What’s inside?!” asked the others, surprised. “It’s the shortcut that the thieves took to go to the meeting place!” said Peter. “Cool!” said Jack, “It’s good that it’s big, let’s hear what the thieves are saying.” “Jim, those are the papers that is important for the machines that is from the Secret Center Office, but we need the other papers to learn about those important paper’s code.” said one man, who sounded like a boss.

“Yes, sir.” said another man, and he stood up, and ready to go. “Thank goodness he didn’t come here.” said Jack, “What shall we do now? Oh, the boss is going away, but he has hidden the papers somewhere.” “Let’s go in and find the papers.” said Anne. “Alright!” said Jane.

Chapter 7: Trapped for a fight
After going through the hole, the children got on to find the papers, Anne found the papers, but the boss had came in, how are they going to escape? “Hey! Who?! Is?! Stealing?! And?! Messing?! My?! Meeting?! Place??!!” shouted the boss, angrily.

“Wow……” said Jane “Hey! A bat! Maybe I can use it to hit him!” And she picked up the bat and hit the man. The man rushed to Jane, but she dodged. “Oh, so close!” said Jane, “Oh! You want a bite?” she said, looking at the dog they found, “Well, go for him, then, and have some fun!” And the dog leapt at the angry man and bit his ears. “Grrr!” said the man. “Jim!!! Where!!! Are?! You???

Then, a man came in the room, but when he saw the dog, he got a shock. “Isn’t that dog putted in a room that is at the first room to scare people off? How did it lead those children here? And why do they come?” asked the man. “Jim,” said the boss “you have to calm down and listen to me, we have to chase…… Ouch!” and he got a kick from Jack, and Jane took the bat she used to hit the boss to hit the other man, and she ran away with the others and she took the bat with her, to protect them.

Chapter 8: Freedom! And a new member
At Secret Center Office, the office that the papers stolen, the one that the Secret Science kids are going back, had trouble, the people are looking for the kids, the children’s  mom is weeping, because she missed them all.

At the strange house, the children had managed to run away, Jake was nearly scared to death. “Hope there’s no more of this!” he said. But at the thieves’ meeting place, the boss and Jim are awake, then suddenly they remembered what to do, and they rushed out to chase the children, but the children had finished the door of maze, and when the boss and Jim was out of the strange house, the children had already near Secret Center Office . “Grrrrr!!!” said the boss angrily “Those pack of children! Wait till I get them!!!” “B…B…B…But,” said Jim, s timidly as Jake, “thy will call the police and…… the police will chase us!” And Jim is right, soon police cars with police and one inspector taking guns came. “Raise up your hands!” they said. At last, the thieves are caught by the police.

The men are brought to Secret Science Center and being questioned. “Are these the thieves that stole your papers?” asked the policeman. “Yes.” said Anne, “Very good! These are the people we are looking for too! They stole my sister’s necklace!” said a policeman. “Er… well, it’s a good thing that we had made a society! And this dog did a whole lot of help!” said Anne “Mom, can we have it? Please!” “Well, I don’t know why not! You could have it!” “Yay!” said Anne “Now we have a new member!” “What about his name?” asked Peter “Luke?” “Good name!” said Anne.

Davin : 现在一个人在柔佛，依稀记得最后写信给你是好几年前的事了。 我在2011年终回国，今年初看你上小学， 到今天除夕夜，明天将是一个新的开始。回想这一年来咱们一家人的点点滴滴。那对你我来说，都是非凡的经历。 这一年，你上了小学，体验了另一种群体与个体生活。在学校里你交了新朋友，打篮球，上口才训练班，英语班，在家里你弹钢琴，学游泳，写书法等等。这些东西我不知道对你来说是一种兴趣，还是一个负担？ 但天下父母心，有谁不想望子成龙呢？ 之前我在YouTube看到一个短片，标题为“Did You Know“，片中播了好多数据，其中最令我深刻印象的是:"2010年10大最热门的工作在2004年是没有的。今天你在大学第一年读到最前卫的科技，其实有一半当你毕业时已经是过时了。。。“ 当然，这一些不代表着什么。但希望我可以在自己的知识与能力范围内，让你具备多一些条件。我不知道这样做对还是不对，就好像我不知道你将来会面对什么挑战。 可是我相信一样东西，这封信对几十年前的我来说，初中或高中可能才会读明白。但我相信几年后你就看得懂。 2013到了，世界末日的谬论已破，在这新的一年了，让我们互勉吧！
