Motivational Monday

Today is Monday, and a very ordinary one at that, even in the popular town of Olympia. Some of the residents will get the blues and get stuck to their warm blankets and sort pillows, while others will rush to meet their pals at wherever they may be. The optimists take it as another beginning, the pessimists take it as a end of their beloved Sunday, while the realists take it as another day. No matter how and what one would take it as, it is just another punctual Monday on the schedule of the never-ending looping time where they just pretty much repeat what they did exactly seven days ago.
That is also what it is to everyone in Olympia, that is, except for Michael. Today is no ordinary day for him. However in what way it will be, he has no idea, but that is exactly what he is looking forward to.

As he trotted down the road and rang Dr.Angus' bell, a loud 'Bang' went spread throughout the street, dense smoke appeared from the windows at the speed on wind. Just as Michael expected the auras and sounds to follow, it suddenly stopped dead, leaving the streets in dead silence. Michael felt that it was a little different but after a couple of minutes later, he still got no signs of the odd doctor. Henceforth he decided to do what he felt best: "Dr.Angus, I am Micheal! Can you-"
Just before he can finish the sentence, the familiar face poked out. Just as Michael proceeded to wave and greet his old friend, the doctor put his finger to his lips with a face so frustrated that the amount of wrinkles doubled on his face. Knowing better of the doctor, Michael immediately put his hands down and shut his mouth.
As Dr.Angus opened the door, he grumbled "Darn impolite kids shouting all the time" under his breath. At least, he thought that it was under his breath, as Michael actually heard what he had said. "Why are you so privative?" asked Michael.
Dr.Angus gave him the same glare as seven days ago. "That is not an actual word." He told Michael.
"It is, even if it isn't, you know what I meant."
"Respect your elders, don't you talk back to be like that."
Just when Michael stepped into the house, Dr Angus rushed to lock the the door until it turns into a wall, then asked "Do you have what I asked for, Mike?"
"Well... My name is Michael, but you call me Mike, I guess, if you want to. And yeah, I did get what you wanted." Michael then reached for a wooden box in his satchel. "Here it is."
"I hope you got the right items, they're quite important." Dr.Angus grabbed the small chest and opened it. "Hey, you actually got everything, not too bad!"
"Gee thanks doc, it was tough trying to know where I could get those chemicals, my parents found it  extremely weird even when I asked what distilled water is, I mean, it is just pure water, right?"
Just as Michael asked the word 'right', the doc used a water picker and collected a few drops of liquid from the bottle labeled 'distilled water' and put them inside a beaker. Then quickly, he added a drop of a solution and attached a wire from a device into the liquid, then when he saw the numbers appear on the device, he took a sigh of relief and put the wooden box on the table.
When Dr.Angus saw the look Michael, he sat himself on the sofa and said: "Sorry Mike, 'm just a bit... You know, a bit stressed, over you know, um... Moving over and cleaning up the place. It's very messed up here."
"Oh, then in that case, can I help?" asked Michael.
Angus opened his mouth as to say 'No', but then suddenly he stopped. Then, after a long pause he said, "Sure, if that is what you want."
Dr.Angus led Michael upstairs into one of the rooms. The room is filled with different parts and machines. "Last week, I said that I might show you some of my invention, and I shall keep my promise. I actually meant to make this my warehouse, but as I was unpacking, my mechanic toolbox's battery had a leakage and exploded the screws and bolts everywhere. I was only just able to fix it today." Then, Dr.Angus took out a U shaped magnet with several wires connected to it and a handle with a button on it. "What you see here is one of my inventions, it is a portable electromagnet. You see, you just press the button here..." The doctor holds the button lightly and some small screws leaped from the table onto the silver parts on the magnet. He then lets go of the button and the screws immediately drop off. "It activates the magnet. The harder you press it the stronger it is, and vice-versa. Don't worry, there are no nails, but I must remind you, some of the parts consist copper and zinc. You know what that means, right?"
"I can't use this device on all the parts?"
"Correct, looks like you are actually are serious when you said you liked science. Oh yeah, the device is called a portable electromagnet, or PEM, thank you very much."
"Wow, this is so cool!"
"Yeah, I know. Now do please put all the parts in to the red toolbox when you have found all of them. When the amount of parts are correct, the toolbox will give out a green light. Take out your hands and it will close itself automatically."
"Aw cool! Did you invent that too?"
The inventor gave a huff of proud and said, "Of course, now do start now." Giving his invention to the young boy, he said, "That would be very helpful of you."
"Yes sir!" Michael shouted as Dr.Angus left and instantly started pressing and pointing the U-shaped device at every metallic colored screw, nut and bolt he sees. It was the biggest fun that he has ever has had since playing with a projecting globe in a mall. Then after sorting the parts into different compartments in the beautifully painted red toolbox. "I sure hope that this toolbox really is mechanically automatic, it really looks like the ordinary toolbox I have at home." Micheal thought as he counted the small items into the red box.
Luckily when he found put in the last screw that he found that was embedded into a crack, the toolbox gave out a nearly blinding green light. Michael instantly stepped back and the box came to life, the lid turned over and chains of iron plates ran over the toolbox, giving off sounds of gears turning and small jumps every now and then as it did so. When the box took the shade of the front door, small parts on the top revealed glass, gave out a beep and finally rested itself.
As Michael was fascinated by what now looks like a metal box, Dr.Angus entered the door. "I hear that you have finished, huh?" He asked.
"Sure did!"
"And you did a pretty good job," Dr.Angus gave brought himself to the compliment after a subtle hesitation, then looking at his wrist, "Oh look, I suppose you have to return now, and I right?"
"Well," Michael continued to look around the room "Can I still come next week?"
"Sure you can," then slightly scratching his own head, "you know what? I'll let you keep the PEM, if you like it so much. I don't actually need anyway, but do not let anyone else know about it, not even your parents. Can you promise that?"
Michael was astonished by what his ears told him. "Really? Can I? Thanks a lot! I promise!"
Dr.Angus gave a light smile. "Now, off you go!" He said.
"Goodbye doctor!" Michael shouted as he left.
"I told you not to be so loud!"
